Born in Taunton, Buckland studied at the Royal College of Art and at Julian’s Paris. He was a painter of portraits, landscapes, romantic subjects and a prolific illustrator. He contributed illustrations to The Pall Mall Magazine, The Windsor Magazine, Illustrated London News and The Quiver as well as illustrating a number of children’s and adventure books. He exhibited at the Royal Academy, Royal Society of British Artists, Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours and elsewhere. He lived in London and later in Barnet.
